Strand-woven bamboo is made by shredding the stalks into fibres, mixing them with resin and compressing them under high pressure. The result is much denser than traditional bamboo.
On the Janka hardness scale, strand-woven bamboo typically scores more than double red oak's rating of about 1,290. That makes it highly resistant to dents from furniture, pets and dropped objects.

How We Install Bamboo Floors
Nail-down
Solid strand-woven boards over plywood can be nailed with a pneumatic flooring nailer set up for dense material. We use thinner cleats and adjust pressure, and pre-drill near board ends to prevent splitting at the tongue.
Glue-down
On concrete or where nailing isn't possible, boards are glued with a urethane adhesive and moisture barrier, as with engineered hardwood.
Floating
Many click-lock bamboo products are designed to float over an underlay, which allows more room for seasonal movement. We use carbide-tipped blades for all cuts, because standard blades dull quickly on strand-woven bamboo and leave chipped edges.
